Agrana sells 20% more sugar

31.03.2004, 00:00 7

Romania's largest sugar producer, Agrana Romania, last year logged turnover worth more than 64 million euros, up 20% from the previous year. The company's business grew despite the difficult market, which was invaded by imports of cheap sugar from the Republic of Moldova and the free markets. "The price of sugar has very slightly changed since 2002 and has remained stable even in ROL. The prices cover only part of the costs and are causing huge losses to the sugar producers and the sugarcane growers," says Emilian Dobrescu, general representative of Agrana Romania. ZF
