Alfa Romeo wants to gain a foothold on the segment of medium-class premium limos with the new Q-tronic automatic transmission specially designed to improve speed performance. Alfa sales in the first seven months of this year rose by 6.8% compared with the above 53% growth rate of imports. The range's best-selling model was the medium-class Alfa 159, with 79 units, up 2.6% against the same period last year. Half this volume was represented by the 2.4 litre diesel with a 200 horsepower engine, one of the most powerful diesel engines on its segment. The BMW 3 Series and Audi A4, the main rivals on this segment, this year registered a volume of 337 and 433 units respectively, accounting for increases of 57% and 85.2%. Alfa Romeo, just as the other brands of FIAT group, wants to gain a leading position on the market.
