03.11.2005, 20:21 9

Alpha Bank made a net profit of 20.5 million euros in the first three quarters, which is more than in during the whole of last year. The bank''s assets at the end of September exceeded one billion euros, while the total volume of loans granted stood at some 700 million euros. Out of the total, less than 10% were granted to individual customers. The bank, however, has recently announced bold expansion plans that include the rapid expansion of the network to 150 branches by 2008, so that the volume of operations with individuals will increase. At mid-year, Alpha Bank slipped to tenth position on the market in terms of assets, with a market share of 3.2%, being left behind by Banca Transilvania, whose market share went up to 3.4%. Alpha last month announced an increase in its own funds by 126 million euros, to 240 million euros, realised by a capital increase of 66 million euros and a 60 million euro loan from its parent bank.
