The Ambient Sibiu group, distributor of construction materials, will have 11 shopping centres this year, after it inaugurates three new such centres in the Transylvania area, following investment worth some 9 million euros. The first centre will be opened this month in Deva, followed by the Ambient Shopping Centre, scheduled to open in July in Baia-Mare. Ultimately the group will open the Ambient Shopping Centre in Gheorghieni. The Ambient Baia Mare will require the largest investment, about seven million euros, according to company officials. Ambient currently owns eight shopping centres in Sibiu, Cluj-Napoca, Targu-Mures, Bistrita, Alba Iulia, Medias, Nasaud and Sighisoara, with retail space ranging from 14,000 to 35,000 square metres. For 2006, company officials estimate a turnover worth 135 million euros, with the consolidated turnover of the Ambient group for 2005 standing at 90 million euros. ZF
