Angst doubles number of HoReCa customers

Stefan Padure, sales manager of Angst, one of the top five players on the charcuterie market and a major supplier of meat products to hotels and restaurants, says regional hotel chains and small customers of tourism centres are helping the HoReCa (hotel/restaurant/ catering) business grow.
"We have more than two hundred customers in Bucharest alone, compared with around one hundred at the end of last year. Our area of interest has expanded toward national or regional customers, but small customers in well-known tourism centres are also highly attractive," said Stefan Padure. Angst is one of the top five meat processors domestically, with turnover standing at 20 million euros in the first half of this year, and one of the main meat suppliers to the HoReCa segment.
According to Angst's sales manager, the company in the first half derived turnover worth 1.5 million euros on the HoReCa segment. "We have projected turnover worth 2 million euros for this year, but we will beat the projection by yearend," Padure also said. The development of international and domestic networks, franchising, and the opening of new outlets are all boosting Angst business on this segment.
The company's customers include Crowne Plaza, JW Marriott, Phoenicia Grand Hotel or Casa Capsa four or five-star hotels, Continental and Perla Majestic hotel chains, La Mama and City Grill restaurant chains, Arcade, Uptown, Mica Elvetie restaurants, German Becker Brau beer house or Churrascaria Carnivore Brazilian cuisine restaurant.
"Not all producers regard deliveries to hotels and restaurants as routine. These have increasingly broader demands, therefore ruling out stock production. This is not a volume market, as it can even be a cost-generating market," he says. According to Padure, being a meat supplier for the HoReCa segment does not bring immediate gains, yet one could be talking about profit in five years at most.
"The market will grow as we learn the Western lesson, with quicker steps to be taken after EU integration. In five years we shall be able to speak of profits," he also said.
Angst supplies major hotel chains of Bucharest particularly with meat and half-cooked meat products. According to the information provided by the sales manager, the company delivers around 50 products to HoReCa customers.
