Aquila group, one of the top three players on the distribution market, in the first six months of this year generated turnover of around 65 million euros, up 19% compared with the similar period of last year.
Aquila last year expanded the area of distribution covered and entered new product categories, which paved the way for growth planned for this year, by approximately 20%, according to the company's representatives.
It opened the second logistic centre, located at the outskirts of Cluj-Napoca city several weeks ago, with the value of the project amounting to 4 million euros.
Last year's largest investment, of almost 4 million euros, was also directed to the logistic segment, and saw the company open its first own logistic centre, with a surface area of more than 10,000 square metres, located in Ploiesti.
"Unilever last year spun off its logistic operations and the international tender was won by our company, so that Unilever is currently our main partner in both logistic centres," stated Doru Atomei, development manager with the Aquila group.
Aquila has been present on the Romanian distribution market for more than 10 years and is entirely Romanian-held.
The company operates in the domains of freight distribution and internal and international shipping, also providing logistic, warehousing and re-packaging services.
The company owns a fleet of 175 trucks and 850 vehicles for the distribution network, 36 warehouses with a total area of 30,000 square metres and two logistic centres.
The group's suppliers include Unilever, Wrigley, Ferrero, Tchibo, Brau Union and Prodvinalco.
Aquila distributes food and non-food products on all distribution channels and works with more than 40,000 customers.
Aquila group includes Aquila and Seca Romanian companies, Standard AVD of Serbia, Trigor AVD in the Republic of Moldova and Akila in Bulgaria.
It entered foreign markets in 2001 by opening an office in the Republic of Moldova.
For the following years, Aquila group plans to grow on the Balkan market and also strengthen its position on the domestic distribution and logistics market.
Aquila is currently focusing on the development of integrated distribution and shipping services and on related activities, so as to be able to interact with all the types of retail companies included in the structure of the Romanian market, according to the group's officials.
Aquila group last year posted consolidated turnover worth 116 million euros, of which about 15 million euros accounted for the revenues derived abroad.
Its number of employees last year topped 1,800.
