Austrian-based company BauMax is counting on partnerships with developers of commercial projects, in order to make sure it sees the fastest expansion in DIY retail. The company will reach 11 operating stores by the end of next year, through investments worth 10 million euros per store (the first stock of goods not included). Five of the eleven BauMax stores will operate in space rented in shopping centres or retail parks, which will enable the retailer to achieve the fastest increase on the DIY market in 2008. "Our collaboration with developers of shopping centres plays a big part in the expansion of our network. We chose them because they made us a good offer, at a good price," says Emma Tobescu, marketing manager of the BauMax Romania network. The company, which opened its first store on the Romanian market last year, has now reached 4 operational stores, and is planning another two openings by the end of this year, in Craiova and Oradea.
