BDF makes changes

10.07.2001, 00:00 12

Shareholders of Banca Dacia Felix (BDF) decided that the bank should change its logo and its name into Eurom Bank, in an attempt to break up with the past. This was the first meeting of shareholders after the bankruptcy status was cancelled.

The bank's most significant financial supporters are Israeli investors, with a 94% stake held by Kolal BV Amsterdam.

Moreover, BDF shareholders approved the structure of the new management board (CA) comprising eight members. Avital Benesh is the new CA chairman, while Marian Crisan is executive president and general manager. Alexander Regenbogen and Daniel Cotet are deputy general managers.

Marian Crisan is an old hand in banking on the Romanian financial market. He used to be the president of Romanian Bank for Development (BRD) until 1998. After he left BRD, Crisan took over the management of Ion ?iriac Bank.

As Anthony Van der Heijden, former general manager of ING Romania Bank, was appointed the head of Ion ?iriac Bank, Crisan took over the position of prime vice-president and later retired. Crisan will begin his activity at Eurom Bank on August 1, 2001.

CA chairman Avital Benesh was born in Bucharest in 1932 and settled in Israel in 1951, where he worked in the banking field for 43 years. He is currently a member in the management board of Leumi Bank Ipotecara and of another two companies listed on Tel Aviv Stock Exchange.

Robert Zendler, Matei Bratianu, president of Blocul National Sindical (National Trade Union Block) and Liviu Mandler, former head of the bank's board of directors, are members of the bank's CA.

BDF General Assembly of Shareholders also approved a share capital increase according to Emergency Ordinance 68/2001, by 1,635 billion lei standing for the value of receivables bought by SC Kolal Amsterdam from the National Bank of Romania and CEC (Savings Bank). Thus, Eurom share capital will amount to 1,740 billion lei, while own funds will stand at 380 billion lei.
