Best Western hotel chain intends to increase the number of affiliated hotels from the current seven to ten. "Our development will pick up speed in 2004-2005 and the chain will probably enlarge to 10 hotels," Malin Malineanu, co-ordinator of the Best Western programme in Romania stated. Best Western's Romanian chain has gathered seven affiliates so far, and is therefore its largest in Eastern Europe. In its Romanian expansion, Best Western is looking for both hotels in major cities, as well as for hotels in various resorts that can become affiliated to the network. All in all, the seven hotels total approximately 740 rooms. Best Western's hotels in Romania saw 10% higher revenues in the first three months this year, Malineanu added. ZF
