Biggest shopping centre in Transylvania to be built near Sibiu

22.06.2006, 19:02 8

The biggest shopping centre in Transylvania, Retail Park Selimbar, will be built near Sibiu in the wake of an investment worth 40 million euros. Covering a 12-hectare plot of land, the shopping centre will comprise a group of four retailers, Bricostore, Media Galaxy, Real Furniture, and a shopping mall. "This will be the biggest shopping centre in Transylvania. The construction of this chain of hypermarkets will result in jobs. For now, we are talking about one thousand jobs," says the mayor of the Selimbar commune, Ion Daniel Maricuta. As there are no more plots of land available for the construction of hypermarkets in Sibiu, investors chose to go to the outskirts of the city, to plots belonging to the Selimbar commune. Near Retail Park Selimbar, Kaufland is building a store on a plot that covers an area of some 3.5 hectares. The most commercially developed city outside of Bucharest is Brasov, where the biggest commercial agglomeration is.
