CGS buys biggest call centre on domestic market

Computer Generated Solutions (CGS), a US-based IT company, has bought Romanian company EasyCall Comunicatii, a contact centre founded in 2002 by Sorin Cristescu (56), Rusu Gheorghe (64) and former Connex employee, Vladimir Sterescu (31). The officials of the two companies did not reveal the value of the deal. EasyCall posted 1.8 million-euro turnover last year and 50,000-euro profit, according to the Finance Ministry. Currently the company employs more than 600 people and is the biggest call centre company in Romania, according to EasyCall officials. The company posted a 1.7 million-euro turnover in the first half and estimates to make 3.4 million-euro turnover this year, Vladimir Sterescu says.
EasyCall provides contact-centre services for domestic mobile telephony and financial-banking companies, as well as services to foreign customers. "We are going to develop significantly next year as a result of investments from CGS. All I can say at the moment is that we will develop a joint strategy next month," Vladimir Sterescu, the company's general manager told ZIARUL FINANCIAR.
"The acquisition of EasyCall and its diverse call centre capabilities provides the perfect complement to the high-quality U.S.-based technical support and helpdesk services of CGS," says Phil Friedman, president and CEO of CGS. "A major step in our global growth strategy, the move expands our presence in the European community. It also opens new opportunities in the BPO (Business Process Outsourcing i.e.) space," he added. CGS has four other call centres in the United States.
EasyCall provides services to several markets, to customers from several different domains such as hardware, software, electronics, financial services, telecommunications, retail, media and government.
Computer Generated Solutions plans to open new call and software development centres in Romania next year. Vladimir Sterescu began his career in a customer relations centre at Connex, where he held various positions from 1997 to 2003. EasyCall was founded in 2002 but really starting operating in the second half of 2003, Vladimir Sterescu said.

There are 5,000 people employed in the local contact centre industry at the moment. A contact centre is a centre that specialises in customer or potential customer relations services through various communication channels, such as phone (call centre), fax, and Internet. Business process outsourcing refers to the outsourcing processes of some departments, such as financial, marketing and sales.
Demand for contact services in Romania is witnessing a 20% growth rate per year, and the number of companies providing support to their customers through either their own departments or outsourced services stands at about 250.
