Clujana to return with own brands

The footwear manufacturer Clujana has announced the start of investments worth over one million euros in upgrading its production facilities. The work is scheduled for completion by June 2006. "We will invest 10.5bn ROL in the rehabilitation of our footwear unit, 15bn ROL, in new equipment and around 20bn ROL in our unit for finishing the skins used in footwear," said Sabin Pop, Clujana''s general manager. He said the company was also intending to launch its own brand of products this year. "The models are now being designed and production samples are being made. They will be original models and part of the traditional ?"Clujana'' range, with all the known features and an improved look. Manufacturing of some 25,000 pairs will begin at the end of August for sale in Romania only. "The company resumed production of footwear under contract this April. "This year we want to start making products using the brands belonging to foreign customers but with our own materials. We are in talks with two companies from Germany and the Netherlands, and production is due to commence early in September," added Pop. ZF
