Cristescu brothers' business exceed 350m euros

06.10.2008, 19:27 23

Cristescu brothers in Timisoara, who control the Bega group, forecast turnover worth 350 million euros this year, via their companies, 16% more than last year. "There isn't any one particular sector that brings more money than another. Given that we operate in several industries, the law of compensation applies: in one year, some businesses decline, while others grow," Marius Cristescu, chairman and CEO of the Bega group told ZF, without specifying which of the companies were seeing declines. However, the businessman says this year's reliance will be on the real estate business. "In real estate, we are only involved in rental, we don't sell." A major source of revenue is the Faur industrial platform in Bucharest, with a total area of 90 hectares, 65 hectares of which are controlled by the Cristescu family. Half of the Faur space, where 12,000 people work, has already been rented out. The businessman estimates the whole Faur platform will be rented out in two years' time. The Bega group employs around 7,000 people who work in several sectors, such as chemical industry (Begachim, Chimforex), oil drilling (Foraj Sonde in Craiova), trade (Bega Com), tourism (Bega Turism), transport (Bega Trans Auto) and real estate (Bega Imobiliare).
