Radu Timis, the owner of CrisTim, the 120 million-euro charcuterie business that employs more than 2,000 people, has taken the whole market by surprise after deciding to part with a team of executives trained in multinationals, less than two months after hiring them. Marian Cretu, Radu Soare and Camelia Cringus are no longer part of CrisTim's business at this time.
"As the entrepreneur of this business, directly involved in carrying it out, I see things very well, very objectively, judge them fast and act accordingly. This was no rush decision," Timis says.
In May, another three managers of CrisTim decided together with the shareholder to leave the group of companies, after having worked with Radu Timis for five to eleven years.
Despite going through a series of repeated changes of management, Timis is positive he will manage to achieve the 40% sales growth targets set for this year, even though all macroeconomic and consumer spending indicators seem to contradict such optimistic forecasts.
One of the reasons, Timis says, for the decision to let his executives go was their lack of confidence in the fact that such a sales target could be attained.
"Since they did not share the vision, the ideas, the pace and style of CrisTim company, they could no longer be with us. They did not believe in my vision to grow CrisTim's business by 40% this year. That is why we are now working only with middle management," Timis, 48, said.
Therefore, at a time when the entire Romanian business sector is going through tremendous transformations, when some entrepreneurs are leaving restructuring of their companies to consultancy firms, Timis decided to take sole responsibility for the results of the company he founded in 1994.
Radu Timis is now supervising production, logistics, sales, acquisitions and IT departments as president, while his wife, Cristina, took over the vice-president position and will supervise the marketing, legal, human resources and administrative departments.
