DHL, one of the leading international courier service market players in Romania, witnessed an around 30% business increase in the first three quarters of this year compared with the same time last year, which was aided, among other things, by the upward trend of the domestic courier business. "Given the market rate, we expect domestic courier services to account for a bigger share of the total turnover within the next few years," said Bogdan Obretin, commercial manager of DHL International Romania. According to earlier statements made by company representatives, domestic courier services account for 10% of the company's business, and witnessed the highest increase, of around 60% last year. International courier services are the company's main business and account for the bulk of its business on the local market. "Express international courier services saw a 25% increase against the same time last year, while the main delivery destinations being European Union countries," specified Obretin.
