Domestic market upsets Rehau's plans

20.11.2003, 00:00 8

The delay in the launch of ISPA or SAPARD funded projects on the market has changed the sales structure of German Rehau Group's PVC and polyethylene piping factory in Sibiu. Only 45% of the sales of the facility in Sibiu over the six months since it began production have been directed to the Romanian market compared to the 80% initially estimated early this year. "We exported some 55% of the output and sold only 45% in Romania. We had to do it, we had no choice. As for the Romanian market, there were some ISPA and SAPARD-funded projects that caused a certain delay," Emil Pop, general manager of Rehau Polymer SRL, the local branch of the German group told Ziarul Financiar. He added Rehau's Romanian facility exported to Slovakia, Hungary, Ukraine or Greece, where it delivered supplies for the Olympic village under construction in view of the 2004 Olympics. ZF
