DuPont plans investment project

24.03.2006, 00:00 11

American giant DuPont, with annual business worth 27 billion dollars, plans on conducting an investment project on the Romanian market, with one of the possible locations being the Petromidia platform, which belongs to Rompetrol, market sources told ZF. DuPont officials have already submitted a technical offer to Petromidia, where they want to invest in building a facility producing sulphuric acid and a piece of alkylation equipment, the quoted sources add. Petromidia would provide raw materials needed in the production process. Such an investment could stand at about 60 to 120 million dollars, depending on the production capacity and on how big the project is. The quoted sources also say that DuPont intends to develop the project according to the BOO - Build Own Operate system. DuPont began talks with Petromidia officials about a year ago, with the Americans having previously contacted other industrial companies on the market, as well, say the quoted sources. "Nothing will happen for the time being. Nothing is set," commented DuPont officials in Romania, without disclosing any further details on the matter. ZF
