Germany's E.ON, present domestically with electricity andnatural gas distribution and supply operations worth over 1bneuros, says that amid the crisis competition for companies' moneyas regards investment projects is very high and Romania, because ofmarket conditions, is not at the top of the list.

"(...) The investment need for the energy segment amounts to atleast 10bn euros, but how can you attract investors without a solidregulation framework?" stated Frank Hajdinjak, general manager ofE.ON Romania.

Hajdinjak's message comes in the context where CEZ, one of theenergy groups with a major presence domestically, has given up inits turn two major investments in Romania, namely the stake it hadin the project related to reactors three and four of Cernavodanuclear power station and plans for the construction of a 400m-eurostation running on gas in Galati. Also, major projects due to becarried out in a public-private partnership for the construction ofsome thermoelectric power stations have been delayed for more thantwo years.
