easyJet delays flying from Baneasa airport

11.10.2007, 21:14 13

Low cost airline easyJet, which introduced its first flight on the Romanian market on September 10, continues to operate from Otopeni airport in the Capital, although it was supposed to move to Baneasa around two weeks after its entry onto the market. "We have not yet reached a commercial agreement with Baneasa Airport. As soon as this aspect is resolved, we will move from Otopeni airport," said Peter Voets, marketing manager of easyJet for Austria, Switzerland and Eastern Europe. The company will introduce two new flights at the end of October, which will link Bucharest to London and Madrid. Initially, easyJet representatives blamed the fact that they were operating their flights from Otopeni instead of Baneasa on flight standards not being met. "We allowed an easyJet commission to visit the airport, and it concluded that there was no major bird problem. In fact, problems with easyJet come from the fact that they want a certain flights schedule, which we cannot offer," said Stefan Mladin, representative of the Baneasa Aurel Vlaicu airport.
