Almost four years after the July 2007 moment, when at leasttheoretically the electricity and natural gas markets wereliberalised, with consumers thus having the right of choosing theirown utilities supplier depending on the most beneficial priceoffer, the effects of this move are almost zero.

No household consumer gave up their old electricity supplier, but there are around 100 persons who decided to have anothernatural gas supplier. Why is this?
"Household consumers do not choose to change their supplierowing to the protection offered at this moment by the system ofregulated tariffs for final consumers, in other words supplierscannot offer a better price than the regulated one. At this moment,by changing their energy supplier, household consumers would seethe value of their electricity bills rise," say the representativesof Electrica.
Whereas on the electricity segment things have been frozen forfour years, on the segment of natural gas supply operations,Germany's E.ON says there are around 100 household consumers whodecided to change their supplier.
