Elmas Brasov, an importer of lifting equipment (such as escalators and lifts), has achieved growth of 40% in its business in 2004 at a time of increasing activity in the constructions sector. Turnover last year reached 8.5 million dollars (7 million euros), up from 5 million dollars (4.14 million euros) the previous year. Rising investment in commercial centres and warehouses has led to an increase in demand for lifting equipment, escalators and conveyor bridges. Demand is rising for parking systems, warehouses, lifts and forklift trucks among the major companies that invest in commercial property and logistics centres. "Our network of offices in Bucharest, Constanta, Suceava, Timisoara, Targu Mures and Zalau covers the entire country," says Marius Paraipan, Elmas marketing manager. ZF
