Flat tax boosts MJ Maillis'' business

03.11.2005, 20:23 8

Packaging manufacturer MJ Maillis has witnessed its net profit shrink by some 15% in the first nine months of the year, to approximately 490,000 euros (1.77 million RON). Sales amounted to over 9.53 million euros (34.5 million RON), compared with 8.42 million euros in the same period last year. The packaging manufacturing business has benefited again from the increase in the consumption of foodstuffs this year, thanks to the increase in salaries once the 16% flat tax was introduced. Moreover, the high demand for packaging is also due to the increase in the sale of food through supermarkets and hypermarkets. MJ Maillis has increased its production capacity for packaging machinery. Demand from European Union countries was the main underlying factor for the decision to expand production, as these are also the main destinations for MJ Maillis'' packaging machinery. ZF
