GDF SUEZ goes to Bulgaria for regional energy trading

GDF SUEZ Energy Trading Romania, a company specialised inelectricity trading controlled by GDF SUEZ French-Belgian group, isset to enter the Bulgarian market, with the firm's representativessaying the objective is to set up a regional tradingplatform.
The move comes as the former Distrigaz Sud, a company GDF SUEZ tookover in 2005, being its most important asset in Romania, alsoswitched from simply supplying natural gas to providing a basket ofutilities including electricity.
As a matter of fact, almost all major energy groups present inRomania have built up integrated utilities portfolios.
"GDF SUEZ applied for an operation and trading licence with the endof interconnecting all regional trading operations. Entering theBulgarian market will allow us to take part in regional auctionsand domestic producers' auctions," GDF SUEZ's Romanianrepresentatives say.
Last year, GDF SUEZ Energy Trading Romania generated 23.7m-euroturnover through eight employees, according to Finance Ministrydata.
