The Romanian division of carrier Gefco, part of thePeugeot-Citroën group, expects a 10% business decline this year, from around 24 million euros in 2008. Gefco representatives saidthe main reason for the business decline is the fall of the carmarket. Volumes transported on the car market were 60% lower in thefirst three quarters of the year against 2008, following thedecline in new car sales. "We saw a 20-40% decline in volumes ofgoods carried, and expect to see a 10% decline at the end of theyear because we have new projects, which offset businesses withother partners," said Denis Renard, general manager of GefcoRomania. The company brought ten new clients into its portfoliothis year and started 24 new transportation projects forelectronics, white and black goods, TVs, washing machines, refrigerators and FMCG products. The main clients in theelectronics and home appliances sector are Romanian manufacturersElectrolux and Arctic, for which the company provides both importservices to Turkey and exports refrigerating equipment to Europeancountries.
