Paints manufacturer Guzu Chim estimates 125 million RON turnover (34 million euros) for 2006, up from the 92 million RON (25.2 million euros) in 2005. "We will develop our distribution network this year, by going for direct distribution in Bucharest and using dealers throughout the country," says Marga Alexe, Guzu Chim''s marketing manager. The company concluded last year with a significant growth in turnover, more than 40%, as a result of the increase in demand for washable paint, wall coatings and structured paints. "The Romanian paint market is developing in full gear and sees the washable paint, wall coating and structured paint share of the total increase, while the share of the alkyd paints is going down, due to the use of the thermopane carpentry," Alexe says. The company invested 10 million euros in its new factory in Popesti-Leordeni, located on the former Viscofil site last year. ZF
