Holiday Inn seeks four-star place

The hotel company Intercontinental International, which operates through the Intercontinental and Crowne Plaza brands in Romania, intends to enter the three- to four-star market with its Holiday Inn or Express Holiday Inn brands, Franz Rattenstetter, general manager of the five-star Crowne Plaza hotel in Bucharest told ZIARUL FINANCIAR. Intercontinental International has a management contract in place with Crowne Plaza Hotel, held by Ana Hotels, part of the group of companies controlled by vice-premier Gheorghe Copos, and has a franchise contract signed with the Intercontinental Hotel controlled by businessman Viorel Paunescu. Another international hotel chain operating on the five-star market in Bucharest, Hilton, has recently announced its plans to enter the four-star segment. Others that have entered this segment are Golden Tulip and Ramada, while Radisson SAS and Accor with its Novotel brand are soon to tap into the same market. ZF
