How Stock Exchange companies performed in Q3

The best performers in July-September remained companies whoseexports account for a large share of sales, while thepharmaceutical and oil sectors slowed down their growthsignificantly. Analysts believe exporters on the Stock Exchangestand the best chances of continuing to perform well, consideringthat there is still no Government endorsement for investmentprojects on the Romanian market, and that the population's incomeremains affected by cuts.


The cumulated turnovers of 65 of the leading StockExchange-listed companies went up by 12.6% in the third quarter ofthe year, to 9.3 billion RON, slightly lower than the declinerecorded in the first half of the year, of 13.9%. The actualincrease remains low, because of the around 8% inflation. Thebiggest company on the market, OMV Petrom (SNP) boosted its salesby 6% to 4.8 billion RON, but posted losses.
Metallurgy companies were the most dynamic in the July-Augustperiod, boosting their turnovers by an average 66% against thesimilar interval of 2009 amid export demand and amid priceincreases.
