06.07.2004, 00:00 8

Kubo Icecream based in Piatra Neamt, the producer of Amicii ice cream, anticipates this year's sales to reach 3.7 million euros, up about 12% from last year, according to chief executive Florin Rosescu. "Although it started with a lot of rainy days, we expect this year's season to be a regular one, with growing sales in July," Rosescu commented. Kubo sold 125.5bn ROL (3.3 million euros) worth in ice cream last year, a 10% increase in euros from 2002. The net profit margin (net profit/turnover ratio) was of 12.1% last year, according to data released by the company. "Last season was good for ice cream, but unusual due to a number of factors acting together. May was a very hot month, one during which Easter was celebrated, which led to a boom in sales that fell in June and July," he added. Kubo Icecream was established in 1994 and is held by three Romanian individuals, Florin Rosescu, Vasile Mancas and Constantin Brau-Ros. The acquisition of Horticom SA two years ago enabled it to produce ice cream with fruit juice content. The factory currently employs 188 people. ZF
