Interior Ministry after 100m euros

08.01.2004, 00:00 11

The Ministry of Administration and Interior is getting ready to contract a foreign loan worth 100 million euros to secure the borders. The loan, pledged by the Finance Ministry, has already aroused interest among major investment banks operating on the Romanian market. The Transports, Constructions and Tourism Ministry and the Ministry of Economy and Trade have been the most targeted such clients by investment banks so far, precisely because they got most of the state-secured loans worth billions of dollars a year. "We are always looking into the financing opportunities on the Romanian market. Of course we are interested in this loan, particularly because we have previously worked with the Interior Ministry," Radu Zaciu, head of German Deutsche Bank's office in Romania told Ziarul Financiar. The loan will involve buying equipment required by Romania's integrated border security, so that the equipment supplier(s)' opinion could weigh heavily when it comes to choosing the funding provider. Suppliers usually come with an offer for financing besides the commercial contract, sources on the banking market told Ziarul Financiar. ZF
