La Fântâna expects 5% annual rise driven by household and water purifier segment

Mihai Matyas, general manager of watercooler bottler La Fântânasays he bets on purifying systems and on the residential segmentthis year, which could boost turnover by 5% (both in volume and invalue).

Matyas's choice is justified by the fact that increasingly morecompanies have started to switch from watercoolers to systems thatuse tap water, in order to cut costs. At the same time, theresidential segment recorded 30% rises last year.

"This segment (of purifiers i.e.) accounts for a very low share,of around 20% in Romania as opposed to 40% in Western Europe," saidMatyas.

La Fântâna delivers both to the residential (household) segmentand to companies. The company is not present in stores, nor does itplan to develop this business segment.

Last year the company posted 17 million euros in sales lastyear, similar to the 2009 figure. The residential segment accountedfor 5% of La Fântâna's turnover, and deliveries to companies forthe rest.
