22.02.2007, 18:26 8

Total sales of vehicles (cars and commercial vehicles) on the local market reached 14,326 units in January 2007, a 0.04% drop against the same period of last year. While the market did not see surprising increases, as according to experienced players, stagnation or even a slight decline is often the natural progression for January, the sales of domestically-manufactured cars fell by 25.2% to some 5,430 units, to the benefit of imported cars, whose sales were 15.4% higher, reaching almost 8,900 units, according to the statistics of APIA (Automotive Manufacturers and Importers Association). Dacia, the biggest domestic producer, shipped more than 14,000 Logan cars, 9% more than the in the same time last year. The production of Logan MCV increased due to the model being launched on Western-European markets as well, after having been initially sold only in Romania and Bulgaria last year. Over 10,000 Logans were exported in January. On the domestic market, however, the Logan sales were down 38%, by about 3,000 units to 4,535 cars shipped.
