Macon Deva aims for 20m euros

17.11.2005, 21:07 10

Construction supplies producer Macon Deva expects to see turnover grow by 10% this year to 20.7 million euros, according to the company''s representatives. "This growth is due to the investment programme worth 8.5 million RON (2.3 million euros) that we started this year. The company invested 3 million RON (800,000 euros) this year in an automated line that ties and wraps ACC packs in foil and in a line that packs polystyrene," Dan Stoian, Macon Deva''s commercial manager stated. "We hope to complete the works on the modernisation of a prefab line early next year," Stoian continued. Macon Deva makes ACC (autoclaved cellular concrete), insulating materials; mineral cotton, concrete prefabs for industrial facilities etc, and also has a section that processes marble, as well as a ballast quarry. The ACC business accounts for some 40% of the total turnover. "The ACC market was dominated by imports this year and witnessed growth of about 5%," Stoian added. The company''s share of the ACC market stands at approximately 15%, while the polystyrene made in Deva accounts for 1% of the market, company statistics show. The Germans at Xellaperonbeton had investigated Macon Deva throughout last year, in view of making an acquisition of their ACC factory. Macon officials countered their offer, proposing that they become partners in constructing a facility from scratch. The two sides failed to reach an agreement and dropped the project. ZF
