Mittal gets another 4.49% in Romportmet

Mittal Steel Holdings bought only half of the 10% in harbour operator Romportmet, targeted by the tender offer put out, for which it paid 7.5 million RON. The company bought 1.1 million shares, accounting for 4.49% in Romportmet. The owner of the steel plant in Galati was planning to buy 2.5 million shares for 6.65 RON each. Mittal Steel Holdings currently owns 21.05 million shares, accounting for 82.9% and acts in concert with Sidex Trading, which owns 11.49%. Therefore Mittal Steel controls 94.4% in the harbour operator''s capital. Mittal Steel took over Romportmet Galati from investment fund Broadhurst in September, paying 47 million dollars for the controlling interests. The deal enabled it boost is stake in Romportmet from 11% to 89%. ZF
