New Sumitomo factory in Romania

09.02.2004, 00:00 17

Japanese electrical automotive wiring maker Sumitomo Electric Ltd. is to open its third facility in Romania by the end of the year, following an about 7 million-euro investment, Florin Ionut, SEWS Romania economic manager told Mediafax. Four million out of the total investment will be used for the actual construction of the building, while the rest of the funds are destined to purchasing production equipment. The new facility will create some 1,500 jobs. Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems Romania (SEWS) representative says the exact location of the productive facility cannot be revealed as negotiations over buying the plot of land in question are still in progress, yet it will surely be somewhere in the north-west of the country.
