Nova Tours sees decline

12.11.2003, 00:00 9

Nova Tours travel agency expects turnover in euros to go down 30% this year. The reasons are the cut in ticketing fees, the agency's main stream of income, and the drop in demand after the boom in the previous year when visas were dropped. Nova Tours anticipates to make 100bn ROL (2.6 million euro) turnover this year compared with last year when it made 115bn ROL (3.7 million euros). "The turnover decline is mainly due to the decision made by the national airline Tarom last year to cut the fees charged by the travel agencies for plane ticket sales from 9% to 7%," general manager Marcel Badescu said. Ticketing generates 75% of the agency's revenues and the tourism business generates the remaining 30%. Nova Tours, a licensed tour-operator, specialises in for-individual-tourist services and in organising conferences and meetings. ZF
