OMV: We focus on developing services

12.09.2008, 22:24 9

Radu Caprau, OMV Romania's new retail manager, intends to develop petrol station services and plans to expand the network across the big cities and along motorways, with this year's budget amounting to 10 million euros for five new petrol stations. Caprau, 33, replaced Vlad Seitan in May, while the latter took over as head of international marketing within Austrian petroleum group OMV. "We are focusing on developing services, given that petrol stations are no longer used just as fuel providers, but have become multifunctional service centres," says Caprau who, until September 1 coordinated OMV's retail activities in Bulgaria. The operations of the petroleum group on the Romanian, Serbian, and Bulgarian markets were taken over in 2006 by Petrom, the largest local company, which, in turn, is a part of OMV's portfolio. Caprau says non-oil services (services outside of fuel distribution) accounted for a quarter of the business worth half a billion euros derived by OMV Romania last year.
