Panasonic: Romanians will start spending again

The 3D TV set market will reach 8,000 units this year, doublelast year's level, according to the estimates of Ştefan Ichim,country manager with the domestic subsidiary of Japan'sPanasonic.

For this year, Panasonic expects sales of 3D TV sets todouble, on a market that amounted to over 4,000 units.

"The market will rise on price pressures. We will sell 2,000units. We want to maintain our market share," stated Ichim,specifying that the cheapest 3D TV set now costs 4,000 lei and themost expensive 20,000 lei.

The company in fiscal year 2010 saw turnover go up by 5%, to57.8, euros. For this fiscal year, the company's manager expectsturnover to advance by 20% in Romania. Moreover, he expects pricesto decline further on market competition.

"This year, the entire market will grow by 20% and thedevelopment is not necessarily based on a rising purchasing power.(...)," says Ichim. The advance is based on Romanians' starting tospend more after two years of crisis.
