Porsche Romania, the representative of the VW-Audi and Porsche brands and the largest auto importer on the local market, sold almost 28,500 vehicles in the first six months of this year, up over 7% against the same time last year. According to statistics of the Automotive Manufacturers and Importers Association (APIA), the auto market went up almost 4% in the first five months of the year, whilst APIA officials forecast a maximum 5% increase for the entire year. In the first half of the year, Porsche Romania's turnover exceeded half a billion euros from the sale of new vehicles, according to ZF estimates, which took into consideration the average price of each brand in the portfolio. In June, the first month of the vehicle fleet renewal programme, Porsche Romania's sales went up by over 13% and reached 5,492 units. June was also the first month this year when the 5,000-car sales mark was topped. "Cheaper car sales saw a decline over the last few months, because of buyers waiting for the Rabla vehicle renewal programme. As for Porsche Romania's sales this year, they will stagnate, or rise by no more than a few percentage points. In terms of volume, they will range from 58,000 to 60,000 units," said Brent Valmar, General Manager of Porsche Romania. The best-selling car in Porsche Romania's portfolio in the first half of the year was Skoda, with 12,799 units, up by 12% against the same time last year, while Skoda's full-year target is to sell 27,000 units, 17% more than last year.
