Pepsi bottler Quadrant Amroq Beverages' (QAB) sales on the Romanian market rose 30% in volume in the first quarter this year. Unlike last year, the top performer in terms of growth was Prigat, QAB's brand on the non-carbonated drinks segment. "The highest growth in volume was that of the Prigat brand. We had 56% growth in volume for the first quarter there, compared with the same time of last year," Eusediu Margasoiu, QAB Romania's marketing manager stated. He added a survey by ACNielsen Romania market research company showed Prigat's market share had gone up to 37%. The 56% growth in Q1 is much higher than last year when Prigat rose 23%. "The worldwide trend, which is starting to show in Romania, as well, is to increase consumption of functional drinks that come with a high added value," QAB's official said. PepsiCo's brands, Pepsi, Mirinda, 7 Up, Mountain Dew, generated 43% growth in volume in Q1 compared with Q1, 2003. ZF
