28.07.2004, 00:00 14

Quadrant Amroq Beverages (QAB), the bottler of Pepsi soft drinks, registered 28% higher turnover in the second quarter of this year as compared to the corresponding period last year. The company did not specify the exact sales figure.

In terms of volume, the company's sales rose by 14% in the above-mentioned period, after registering 30% growth in the first quarter. This is equivalent to an increase of 21% during the first six months, according to the company's representatives.

This year, QAB is hoping to see turnover of more than 100 million dollars, after sales last year totalled around 74 million dollars. This would mean a 35% increase in dollars this year, after the 45% growth witnessed last year.

These expectations are based on the overall increase of the market and by the launch of the company's new plant, located in Covasna. At present, QAB bottles Covasna Roua Muntilor mineral water, which has been recently launched on the market, but plans to introduce juice bottling lines as well.

The company's Perla mineral water brand, which was present on the mineral water market in the second quarter, registered a 9% increase in terms of value and a 12% advance in terms of volume.

With Roua Muntilor under its belt, the company intends to be among the top three producers of mineral water in Romania within the next three years. For the time being, these positions are held by European Drinks with Izvorul Minunilor, Coca-Cola HBC Romania with Dorna and Romaqua with Borsec.

According to data released by the company, the most significant growth was registered by the Lipton Ice Tea brand, which increased about four times in terms of value and six times with regard to volume.
