RASDAQ triples profit

The RASDAQ made gross profits of 7.2bn ROL (177,000 euros) last year, three times higher than in 2003. The company''s turnover, which is largely made up of fees collected from brokers, increased by nearly 40% to 22bn ROL (542,000 euros), compared with 15.9bn ROL (424,000 euros) in 2003. The increase in turnover was mainly the result of the number of transactions conducted on the RASDAQ, as the majority (some 80%) of revenues is derived from trading fees. The total value of transactions on the RASDAQ in 2004 amounted to 146.1 million euros, compared with 109.7 million euros in 2003. In the circumstances, revenues derived by the RASDAQ from fees were worth 17.6bn ROL (435,000 euros) in 2004, 30% higher than initially expected. The RASDAQ-Composite index, which gauges the performance of all companies listed on the RASDAQ, witnessed a 40% rise in 2004, while RASDAQ''s capitalisation came to 2.06bn euros (80,000bn ROL) at the end of 2004. The market plans to reach a total revenue level of 22.5bn ROL (some 600,000 euros) and gross profits of 2.5bn ROL (67,000 euros). ZF
