Reinert to use Romania as export hub

04.07.2005, 18:55 10

Germany''s number three on the processed meats segment, Reinert, which has announced it will begin construction works on a 15 million euro production facility near Brasov, intends to turn Romania into an export hub to service the markets in the region. "We will be making processed meats using Romanian recipes at our facility in Brasov, but will also make German specialities. Romania''s geographical situation allows for exports to the markets in the region. We will make premium products, but mostly make cheaper processed meats because of the low incomes of the population," stated Hamfdiwald Reinert, the CEO, the majority shareholder and one of the heirs of the Reinert business founder. He says the decision of the company to mark Romania as destination for their first production facility outside Germany was made after assessing the opportunities 13 other markets in the Central and Eastern Europe provided. Reinert added that the opening of the facility in Brasov was not a relocation to Eastern Europe but an attempt to capitalise on the potential of the Romanian market. The Germans will most likely launch their first products at the end of next summer, when the factory is due for completion.
