Romcarbon invests in fibres

27.10.2005, 19:46 61

The shareholders in plastics manufacturer Romcarbon Buzau have approved the company''s investment of 750,000 dollars (2.25 million RON) in Greenfiber International, whose core business is the production of polyester fibres used in the textile industry. Greenfiber was established in the first half of this year by a group of Taiwanese shareholders that control Greentech Buzau, the only company in Romania that collects and recycles plastic waste, which is then used as raw material for making polyester fibres. Greentech''s main shareholder is Living Plastic Industry, which owns more than 38% in Romcarbon. "One of the reasons why this investment was interesting was the fact that it brings something new to Romania due to the nature of the raw material used. There is no other similar producer in Romania or in neighbouring countries, either," said Hung Ching Ling, the chairman of Romcarbon''s board. ZF
