Ryanair the European leader of the low cost market, which launched flights on the local market this year, will account for half of the passenger traffic at the Mihail Kogalniceanu airport in Constanta county. "According to our estimates, we will have 90,000 passengers this year, 40,000 of whom will travel with Ryanair," said Titus Adrian Cazacu, director of the Mihail Kogalniceanu airport. 48,000 passengers travelled to and from the Constanta airport last year, while another operator was regular airline Carpatair. Additionally, this year could see the introduction of low cost flights to connect Constanta with cities in Spain and Germany. "We are in negotiations with several low cost companies with a view to introducing new flights, including Ryanair, which already operates flights on the Constanta-Pisa route," said Cazacu. Ryanair has been operating on two routes on the local market, since April this year: Constanta-Pisa and Arad-Milan. In Romania, the biggest low cost company is currently Blue Air, which operates flights from Bucharest, Bacau and Arad to foreign destinations, followed by Wizz Air, which operates from the Baneasa and Cluj airports, and MyAir, which flies both from Bucharest Timisoara.
