SIF Muntenia elects politically involved Board

03.04.2001, 00:00 15

The election of the eleven members of SIF Muntenia's Board of Directors is another confirmation of the fact that financial investment companies are still clinging on to the political sphere.

SIFs, private companies and political creations of the years 1990-1992, which are practically "loaded with money and shares," have always had strong ties with the political sphere, no matter if it was the rule or the opposition.

Those elected in SIF Oltenia's Board late last year were Oliviu Gherman, Party of Social Democracy (PDSR) senator, former senate chairman throughout 1992-1996, and Ristea Priboi, PDSR deputy, chairman of the control commission of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SIE). Electing SIF Muntenia's Board of Directors on Saturday was practically a formality.

Five members of the old Board were reelected. Some of the newcomers are prominent members of PDSR, the governing party. The five to have been reelected are Elena Ioanitescu, current SIF Muntenia chairman, Alexandru Albu, Cristian Dumitrescu, Viorel Pana and Sorin Coclitu.

The new Board Members are Constantin Teculescu, Dan Stoican, Dan Constantinescu, Dana Barb, Viorel atefan and Virgil Popa.
