Romania-based Softwin Company will have its own stand at the BOOKAREST 2001 book fair to open at the Bucharest National Theatre today. Softwin will be the first company in Romania to ever display portable readers and electronic books.
The company has recently launched a software capable of turning every kind of document (books, encyclopaedias, schoolbooks, dictionaries, magazines etc) in electronic format, accurately reproducing the image on paper.
Softwin entered the international e-book market early last year and carried out electronic book projects for major publishing houses planning to convert and distribute their books on special readers (e-book devices).
E-books significantly cut long-term costs, as the electronic format is much less expensive than printed versions, since it eliminates printing, transport, distribution and sale negotiation costs. Another major advantage is that the number of copies released is virtually unlimited.
A special reader is a regular library that one can take everywhere, as it is capable of "memorising" hundreds of books and at the same time comes with underlining, revision marks, search and reader's notes editing facilities.
Softwin invites those interested to attend the "E-book, the book of the future" conference to be held at BOOKAREST 2001 at the Bucharest National Theatre 1st floor foyer on Friday, May 25 at 15.00.
