The Somes Dej cellulose and paper plant posted 18.6 million euro turnover in the first half, and plans to make 40 million euros for the entire year, approximately 12% more than in 2003. Full-year profit should border on one million euros, company officials say. Somes Dej's profit in 2003 stood at 350,000 euros, compared to the 250,000 euro losses seen in 2002. "Demand for our products was higher in the first half, something that was particularly true for cellulose," said Gabriela Marginean, a representative of Serviciile Comerciale Romane (The Romanian Commercial Services Group - SCR), the main shareholder of Somes Dej. SCR completed the takeover of Somes Dej last month, as it acquired the controlling interests from Austrian MFC Commodities GmbH for a price estimated at 5 million euros. ZF
