SPAR network replaces Tizzanini as general manager

15.09.2008, 21:44 10

Super and hypermarket network SPAR has decided to replace Rino Tizzanini, the company's current general manager, who will remain with the retailer, but could take up another position. SPAR representatives said that the name of the network's new general manager would be announced shortly, while Tizzanini has yet to make a decision on whether to leave the company or not. Before coming to SPAR, Tizzanini had been at the helm of local operations of discount store Profi for several years. At the end of 2004, the managing board told the Frenchman that they had terminated their contract with him, but he sued the company and was reinstated in his position. Locally, SPAR stores are operated by Astral Impex, one of the largest FMCG distributors in Romania, controlled by brothers Ioan and Floare Cuc. SPAR is an Austrian retail chain, which expands internationally mainly by awarding franchises and operating licences.
