Swedes build automotive parts factory

06.12.2005, 20:23 10

Swedish automotive component manufacturer Trelleborg Automotive will begin the construction of a factory to make antivibration products in Romania, in the first half of next year. The construction of the factory will take less than one year, with production expected to begin at the end of 2006. The location and value of the investments were not revealed in the company''s release, but the Swedes are considering Satu Mare, Dej and Turda, among others. "We met with the investors from Trelleborg a month ago, when we suggested to them a 24 hectare plot of land inside the largest compact tract of land on the outskirts of the city that has access to utilities and an asphalt-paved road. They would have liked a larger plot of land, though, around 40 hectares," stated Tudor Stefanie, the mayor of Turda. The production facility will create some 200 jobs and, according to company estimates, will generate sales of some 31.5 million euros by the end of 2009. ZF
