Tanasescu still against TransFond transfers

01.06.2001, 00:00 6

Finance minister Mihai Tanasescu requested the Permanent Senate Bureau that Treasury's fund transfers should keep being made through NBR.

He explained that in case the Treasury funds were transferred through TransFond, this would enable the private company to impose a monopoly policy with regard to commissions for Treasury reimbursement and transfer operations.

Tanasescu sent the Permanent Senate Bureau a note on the legality of TransFond establishment.

The note, endorsed in the Government's session on April 11, shows that the Finance Ministry feels that the current treasury funds operation system, that is through NBR, should not be changed and explains that the ministry is planning to develop its own intra-treasury reimbursement and transfer system.

According to the note, were the Treasury funds transfer to be run through TransFond, this would be done in two stages.

During the first stage, reimbursements will be made through mandate accounts opened in TransFond's records, while in the second stage, the reimbursements will be operated through open accounts.

The final and irrevocable reimbursement of every operation will be done as it is now, namely through NBR.
